Art, if you really want to know, the inn in question operated nothing like a modern one.  It was probably just a house with a guest-room (and space for beasts of burden).
No one knows how many "inns" Bethlehem had but, given its proximity to Jerusalem with its Passover flood of people, there may have been quite a few.
