Saw your note, what a fascinating species! Epitonium pourtalesii is
quite a rare species. I have one specimen (29mm) dredged off Key West
in about 90 fms. It is indeed similiar to E. krebsii but different, the
best discription of it is in Johnsonia vol. 2. It was lumped by Bouchet
but like E. lamellosum the shells have fairly different shapes from
each area. Our species from the Western Atlantic in my opinion appears
to be much more sculptured, with highly developed costae.
