Hi All,

I've recently started putting together a website covering Land Snails of
Houston and Vicinity. The project is pretty young, but some progress
has been made. First off I must say, getting information is pretty
difficult. I managed to purchase a used copy of "The Eastern Land
Snails" by Burch for $125. Expensive but well worth it. Other
references that would be of use include "Land Mollusca of North America"
by Pilsbry, 1939-1948. That's available for $500 off the net. I've
ordered "The distribution of the native land molluscs of the eastern
United States" by Hubrich. Hopefully that will provide more detail on
locations. So far I've only been able to get locations down to the
state level for the most part. I've found a list of Texas species on
the net, plus have been able to get a Texas listing on NatureServe. Is
there a resource around on the net to get county records?

Here are some species I've documented so far with moderate confidence:
http://www.io.com/~danjohns/gastropods/bradybaena_similaris.html
http://www.io.com/~danjohns/gastropods/rabdotus_dealbatus.html
http://www.io.com/~danjohns/gastropods/oligyra_orbiculata.html
http://www.io.com/~danjohns/gastropods/mesodon_thyroidus.html
http://www.io.com/~danjohns/gastropods/pupoides_albilabris.html

Here are some questions. Input appreciated:
http://www.io.com/~danjohns/gastropods/polygyra_tholus.html -- Listed in
Burch, but the name appears to be out of date and I can't find a
synonym.
http://www.io.com/~danjohns/gastropods/snail2.html
http://www.io.com/~danjohns/gastropods/snail3.html

Here's my Texas list:
http://www.io.com/~danjohns/gastropods/land_snails_of_texas.html

And a start at whittling the Texas List down to a SE Texas list:
http://www.io.com/~danjohns/gastropods/houston_land_snails.html

Do many of you have intersest in Land Snails?

Thanks in Advance.
