Another response from the ArmorAll folks came in today.

"Thank you for contacting us about your Armor All Protectant. We always
appreciate hearing from our consumers.
Just thought I would let you know the protectant does not remove the
original plasticizers from the plastics.  A dashboard that is not treated
with any type of protectant will do the same thing.  Plastics start to age
from the day they are manufactured and will expand and contract.  Thank
you for the information.
