A good bit of it is here -
http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/HFrame.html
more specifically this and stubs from here:
http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/HFrame.html
This is a massive site - I bought the CD some years ago - likely will
buy again for an update.
Many topics are contained on this site.
In short - Fourier determined how to write equations form the behavior
of waves. A waveform
is started with a fundamental wave and to it various amplitudes of other
waves are added or
subtracted.
A simple case might be demonstrated in concert or two horns or whistles
mixing sounds.
The mix would be a complex 'summation'.
Typically a series of sine and cosine values are used. Look at
Harmonic content
and Fast Fourier transform (bottom of the page) link.
Hope this helps. The site is a great resource for many topics.
