As one of the (very near) founding members of The Minnesota Society of
Conchologists, I can affirm that Illuminado Iway was not a hoax. He sent
myself and many other members of our club shells in exchange for clothing and
other useful items, beginning in the mid-1970's. Some of the best shell-dolls
I've ever seen were made and/or sent to us by him. It is sad indeed to hear of
his passing.
