Hola Emilio:

conchofilos.

Hola Emilio:

The Castillian word CONCHA arised from the Latin conchula, and then this
word arised from the Greek konche; yes, it is possible that the English
language borrowed it from the Castillian, in the same form as Castillian
has
borrowed words from the English.

The word CONCHA was important in the times of Chaucer, when the
peregrination to Santiago de Compostela was so important and the symbol
of
the voyage was a conch; the conch was used a lot in Santiago as a
decorative
element in architecture. The possesion of a conch taken at Santiago was
the
proof of have done the pilgrimage; but in the black market you could
obtain
conchs that graduate you as pilgrim without the perils of the voyage;
there
are diverse opinions about which was exactly the used species.

Who knows it?

conchofilos.
