Your story was hilarious...first laugh  I've gotten in quite some time.
 
Having had quite a bit of contact with the post office since I started a
new job a few months back, I've found out that almost none of their
services are "guaranteed". 2 Day Air means they'll try to get it
whereever in 2 days. A regular 33 cent 1st class letter from California
can take 3 days or 10 days...It makes you wonder where the letter that
takes 10 days goes before it gets to its destination.
