Dear all, just recently I recieved an unidentified Spondylus in
the mail. I found no reference to it in any of my books. I was hoping
someone could Identify it for me. It is fairly large, perhaps 3-4", and
is
very light chalky purple in color. There is a large lump on the end of
the top valve
that may be the umbone. Spines are numerous and very short. Interior is
glossy
off white, with hints of green-yellow. The edge of the interior is
purple-brown. The
only data I have on it so far is that it came from Zanzibar.

Thanks,
James
