I agree with Tom that Scutus are a true problem. The main problem is
that it is difficult to match shell and photo of the animal some days
after the diving. Scutus are not the only concern in life, unless one
is an expert in these.
I just checked on Poppe-images: they are not organized there, but I
photograph each animal I see. In the ones online we can distinguish:
- all dark brown shell - many
- dark brown with pale flecks - many
- pale brown with sparse dark flecks - rare
- mantle translucent with dark body - rare
There is the problem of possible change of color between young and
adults.
i've about 15000 photos not online from the latest dives, but the
company has not the time and means to process them for the moment. It
is an interesting subject these Scutus.
