Stewartia floridana (Conrad 1833) is endemic to the Gulf of Mexico.
However, to my limited knowledge it is found only along Florida's west coast
and the coast of Texas. In Florida I've found records of finds only from
Sanibel north to Cedar Key. It is also supposed to be sometimes found in
the Florida Keys. Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of finding this
shell in the Keys or along the Florida West coast both inside and outside
the range indicated? This shell is most often collected washed ashore. For
