For any with taxonomy knowledge,
After looking through the labyrith that is the ICZN code from proper completion
of specific names (mostly Art. 32-34), I realize that I cannot determine what
the ACTUAL, published names were unless I have access said original
descriptions, which I do not.
Is there a source (on-line, preferably) which shows the valid names of the
cowries, as published OR properly emmended? Wikipedia seems rife with cases of
cowry names ending in -ii when they should not. ICZN code, however, says the
'name' as published is the name to use, unless it can be shown to be improperly
formed (thus, isabella-mexicana became isabellamexicana).
Is there a ready reference to clarify these spellings?
Thanks,
Bob Dayle
