There is one thing that I'm pretty certain about.  It has been proven
with some of the shells from india.  If only the largest adults are
collected then the colony will be dwarfed down.  This happened to the
money cowries years ago.  Also many times the female in the largest one
and collecting all the females will cut down on "factory production".
Giants will occur now and then for unknown reasons unless one reason is
that there is an over abundance of their food supply.
