Lawrence, D. R. 1979. Valve sorting in Dinocardium at North Inlet, South
Carolina. Geologic Notes, vol. 23, no. 1, p. 50-59.  Left valves were 91.7
to 100 percent of those to the north and 27.6 to 8.6 of those to the south.
Of 1000 painted valves released offshore, over 99 percent were never found
again.  Several references are cited on this phenomenon.
