Hi,

I realize that this is a big request, but would appreciate any
assistance/ideas/input/recommendations I can get.

I am brand new to this list, and also new to shelling.
Though I have had a passion for it since I was a kid, being from Minnesota,
have rarely had the opportunity.
When I was 16, I had the chance to collect shells on an island near Venice
once.  Then I went to Sanibel for a day a few years ago.

Now I have an airline ticket that expires in 3 months, and is good for
anywhere that Delta Airlines flies in the Caribbean.  I didn't want to go
alone, but finally decided to go for it.  This may be the only chance I
will get to go there.
Destination choices are:
1. Bermuda
2. Nassau
3. Barbados
4. Cayman Islands
5. Jamaica - Montego Bay
6. Jamaico - Kingston
7. St. Thomas
8. St. Lucia
9. Aruba

The most important consideration for me in where to go, is where I can find
the best shells easily - I don't scuba, and have never snorkeled (but am
willing to try).  I also do not want to take live shells.  Also important
is that there be great beaches/scenery, and that it be clean & safe for a
woman traveling alone.
Based on this, I need all the advice I can get on:

1)  What island to go to to find the best shells.
2)  How & where to find them once I get there.
3)  Books I should read/bring.
4)  Hotel or other recommendations/advice.
5). What else to do there for fun.
6). What are some of the other comparisons between these islands; beaches,
scenery, atmosphere, activities, etc.?
7). Are there any groups/tours I could join?
