Although this ought to be a better way to illustrate what we are talking
about, the variety of email programs involved means that some people would
only receive pages and pages of gibberish, which is particularly annoying
for those who have to pay by the volume of email.  Instead, put the photos
on a website and send the address to everyone.  I believe the list is
currently set up to reject large postings such as images.

Shell pictures do help a lot in identification, as long as you have a
reliable source.  I was just looking at an intro biology text with errors
in all of the mollusk photo captions.
