Well I'm teetering close to a "NSR" here but it's useful info so lets proceed. DON'T OPEN ATTACHED FILES THAT YOU DIDN'T ASK
SOMEONE TO SEND YOU , easy as that. those email viruses didn't come to fruition. (the viruses that don't need a exe file)
anyway they never really materialized. as for antiviruses , the best is Norton followed very closely by McAfee (spell check)
I read this in "Yahoo" magazine . there is a freaky little "AV" program called immune 2 , it looks for tell-tale algorithms
that ALL virus have in common, I.E. exe files, I believe these files are not typical of most attached normal files.
But immune 2 does have some draw-backs, it attacks some files that are benign . anyway, it's easier to follow this easy idea,
DON'T OPEN ATTACHED FILES THAT YOU DIDN'T ASK SOMEONE TO SEND YOU ,
DON'T OPEN ATTACHED FILES THAT YOU DIDN'T ASK SOMEONE TO SEND YOU ,
DON'T OPEN ATTACHED FILES THAT YOU DIDN'T ASK SOMEONE TO SEND YOU ,
DON'T OPEN ATTACHED FILES THAT YOU DIDN'T ASK SOMEONE TO SEND YOU ,
CAPICHE!!!! (IF THERE ARE ANY ITALIANS OUT THERE THAT CAN STEER ME STRAIGHT ON HOW TO SPELL THAT I'D APPRECIATE.
Ciao, the weasel, glad to be back

|A virus program only scans for the information that was good the day you
|installed it. It does not protect you from newly fortunately viruses.
|
|Personally, I don't have a virus program installed because it interferes
|with many other programs, plus I have doubts about how useful it is. There
|is a company named Trend that sells virus protection programs to large
|networks. I believe they update on a daily basis. For PC users, for free
|you can go there and use their program on-line to scan your drives with a
|program called Housecall. The first time you visit, it takes a while to
|download the initial virus protection. After that, each time you go you
|will have a short update to download.
|
|When I receive any *.exe attachment, I go there to scan it before opening
|it. You can get there by going to http://housecall.antivirus.com
