In Egypt, these shells are consumed on a regular basis by the local
population bordering the Red Sea:

Lambis truncata

Chicoreus ramosus

Strombus tricornis

and occasionally I have seen Pinctada margaritifera for sale in the
market place in Suez, along with Tridacna.

I have never seen Charonia tritonis eaten, but have been told that it is
occasionally consumed.

On dive boats, I have seen tourists (mainly Europeans) eat any number of
pectins raw.

There may be more species, but I'm away from home and have no shell
books to jog my memory!
