Taking video pictures of molluscs climbing aquarium walls is quite
interesting.  You will see that different species move in quite
different ways.  Some move with a left and right track alternately.
Others have many narrow tracks that move in some pattern.

As to split tails:  The forked tail is a characteristic of some species,
especially in Nassarius.  Usually forked tails form a group in a family
or genus.
