Hi, Conch-Lers,

May I say that one should not inhale sodium hydroxide fumes.
It may not seem as harmful as something like acetone, but it too can cause respiratory damage.    I learned the hard way.
Fortunately, I did not get enough inhaled to cause serious damage.   Always be careful around  liquid chemicals, they may not seem harmful but can be.
