Range of Lyria lyraeformis is quite large, from Northern coast of Somalia
(Ras Hafun) down to north of Mozambique. Somalian specimens usually are
small (70-80 mm,rarely much more), with a very convex outline, brown-pink
colored, with 19-20 axial thick ribs. Northern Kenyan (Lamu island)
specimens mainly are large (100-120 mm), very elongated,, of a dark
brick-red color, with 20-23 thin axial ribs. Southern Kenyan (Shimoni area)
specimens are sometimes very large (up to 150 mm), brown in color with 16-17
thick axial ribs. Some (erratic?) specimens have been trawled along the
northern shore of Mozambique. There are all small (70-80 mm) with a convex
outline, brown colored with 23-24 thin ribs.
