Nancy,
I was talking to someone who went around the world in a sailboat. When they
were in India, they found a whole island covered with dead and dying Strombus
decoriata?? that fishermen had fished and ripped off the operculum and threw
the shells on a pile. Hopefully we'll send them some Viagra and they can
forget about killing the Strombs. But she said that they were fishing them
for the aphrodaisic qualities. Carole Marshall.
Incidentally, there was some sort of discussion previously on Conch L about
a similar subject, but I can't quite remember all of it.
