David Kirsh and all:

I too have found empty Indo Pacific shells in Florida - on the beach on Key
Biscayne I found an empty Strombus bulla and Melongena paradiasca
(spelling??) - and I have found a crabbed Turbo petholatus. Quite a shock at
first. Some pet stores in this area sell live hermit crabs in various shells
- maybe some people have 'returned them to the sea'!!
