The subgenus Linnerita (typespecies Nerita polita) of the genus Nerita was
dedicated by Vermeij to Linnaeus.
However, there a quite a number of molluscs named after him most are listed
under the specific names linnaei, linnaeana, linneana and linnei, for
example Anodonta linnaeana Lea, 1852; Ampullaria linnaei Philippi, 1851;
Corbicula linneana Prime, 1864 and Gibbula linnei Brusina, 1865. Don't
forget that his real name was Carl von Linne and that his Latinized name was
Linnaeus.
