Dear Paul, Allen and other interested people,

The Amathinidae is only a recent family. See:

Ponder W. F. (1987)The anatomy and relationships of the pyramidellacean
gastropod Amathina tricarinata. Asian Marine Biology 4, pp. 1-34.

The arrangement propsed by Ponder is also reflected in Vaught (1988). The
family Amathinidae holds a whole assortment of shell shapes, from those
cap-shaped Amathina, to shells you would place in the Pyramidellidae at
first glance

regards

Patty
