Professor Tadashige Habe died of natural causes in Tokyo on December 29th, aged
85. One of the great men of Japanese malacology, he was responsible not only
for a vast body of literature but for teaching an entire generation of
researchers. He is best known abroad for his illustrated books on Japanese
shells, both his own work and those co-authored with Sadao Kosuge and Takashi
Okutani.
