Can anyone explain the extra date?

This follow to ICZN, Article 40.2 "If, however, a family-group name was
replaced before 1961 because of the synonymy of the type genus, the
substitute name is to be maintained if it is in prevailing usage."
Recommendation 40A. Citation of author and date: "If the author and date are
cited with its original author and date, followed by the date of its
priority as determined by thos Article, the date of priority should be
enclosed in parentheses."

Example: The older name of this family was Amphidesmatidae DESHAYES 1850.
Because of the synonymy of the type genus Amphidesma LAMARCK 1818 with
Semele SCHUMACHER 1817 STOLICZKA introduced the family name Semelidae
STOLICZKA 1870 and this is now to write with the date of the older name of
DESHAYES 1850 in parantheses.
