I have sent the following to Ms. Liberman, and am also posting it here in
case anyone is interested:

The first edition of American Malacologists, published 1973-1974, includes
the following entry:

Lowe, Herbert Nelson, born 1880, Minnesota. Florist; Amateur conchologist.
Began nursery with parents near Long Beach, Calif., 1899. Collected
extensively in Calif., Mexico, Florida, Cuba, panama, 1895-1934. Publ.:
numerous papers on marine moll., some with H. A. Pilsbry. Contrib.: Proc.
ANSP; The Nautilus, 1895-1934; Trans. San Diego Soc. Nat. Hist. Memb.:
