Dear Friends,

I just received an e-mail from a reporter who is
working on an article dealing with the common edible
landsnails in Portugal. In here many questions, there
are two in particular which I would like to here your
opinions, they are:

1) – What consequences do human heath can be cause by
the ingestion of landsnails collected near roads
(supposedly with a high content of heavy metals)?

2) – What recommendations in terms of health can be
maid to people who cook these landsnails? Also, is it
true that certain landsnails are responsible for the
transmission of a dangerous parasite that fixes it's
self in the stomach and may cause death?

Thank all for your attention.
Um forte abraço, Carlos Afonso (South-Portugal)
