I have just had from a fisherman twelve specimens of
Argonauta trawled at 450m on mud bottoms in the Jonian
Sea (Central Mediterranean).
I think that when the egg case is discarded it slowly
falls on the bottom like the shell of many other
pelagic shells (Atlanta, Peracle, Limacina, Carinaria,
etc. etc.), so it may well be trawled.
