To those of the "Cypraea persuasion",
Today I received another specimen of Jenneria pustulata (Lightfoot,
1786), which caused me to check the family in which it belonged, before
entering it into my database and making tags. A few years ago I had
entered it under Triviidae Eisenberg "Seashells of the World", pg. 59.
Looking into Keen's "Seashells of Tropical West America (2nd edition) pg.
499, it is listed under Ovulidae. So far we have a disagreement between 2
authors, but to make it a bit more interesting, Tucker Abbott and Peter
Dance's "Compendium of Seashells",(2nd edition) pg. 98, places Jenneria
pustulata in Triviidae, whereas their 4th edition places it in Ovulidae.
Can someone (Lindsey Groves?) please clarify what is the present
(December 11, 2002, 11:28p.m.) family to which our devilish little species
belongs?
Thanks to those that have helped with this problems.
Dan
