I solved my shell storage problem by using plastic cabinets designed for
document storage. These consist of a number of interlocking boxes, each
14"x12"x3 1/2". Each box takes one 3" drawer or two 1 1/2" drawers. These
can be connected in any size or configuration desired. The interchangable
drawers allow shells to be arranged systematically rather than with small
shells at the top and large shells at the bottom as most cabinet are
configured.
