Hello everyone,

I hope you are all set for a relaxing weekend. Concerning the
discussions regarding digital cameras, I am constantly amazed by what
people put up on eBay, what they expect and what some people are
actually willing to pay. Sadly, though it was necessary at the time,
I sold a great Nikon Coolpix 990. Now this is a camera that is now
about three generations back in technology, yet I continue to see
this camera offered for (and bid on) at $400 or more! You can buy a
brand new Nikon 3MP camera for well under that with the current
rebates. I'm sure that the sellers are happy to get such good prices,
but I'm shocked that anyone would pay that much for a camera that is
clearly worth less. Maybe buyers get caught up in the "feeding
frenzy" and don't want to lose what they see as a nice camera, and I
can tell you that my old 990 was a great camera. One day, when
someone with their feet planted on Earth offers one for $200-$250, I
will grab it. Paul Kanner purchased a new Nikon and the photos he has
shared with me are fabulous. I've also seen great results from Canon
digitals.

I'm currently using a Minolta Dimage 7 (5.24MP) and while it is
capable of producing excellent images, more often than not, the auto
focus takes a ridiculously long time to work and inevitably the shots
need a good deal of Photoshop tweaking to be useable. The newer
Dimage 7Hi is far superior, as Minolta has been great about
responding to user feedback.

Happy hunting (shells or cameras),
Jim
