Hello Alwyn
I find this publication very helpful an thorough, especially when used in
conjunction with Weaver & Dupont’s - Living Volutes.

As to your question on Poppe’s name usage. I do not believe he may any changes
on his own, but rather took the changes from other published literature.
However, perhaps you should inquire directly to him on the matter.

Dear all
In the publication “A taxonomic Introduction to the Recent Volutidae” by P.
Bail and G.T. Poppe published in 2001, several Volutes were changed from one
genus to another like Festilyria africana became Calipara africana etc. It
does not seem that this has become common practice as the volutes are still
referred to as before. Without stepping on toes could I please ask to what
extent this publication is valid? Should one still use the original genus or is
there a move towards the new classification but I am just not aware of it. Any
help would be appreciated.
Best shelling regards
Alwyn
