Dear Paul;-
It's the tooth. Without the tooth, there would be some suggestions. Could the tooth be an aberation? At any rate, it's a beautiful shell.

> Hello Conch-L,
>
> Someone posted a picture of a strange shell on another forum, requesting ID. Since no opinions were offered there, and since I am personally very curious about this shell myself, I took the liberty of re-posting the picture with a link so that the collective conchological cognizance of the mighty Conch-L might be brought to bear on the problem. Does anyone have an idea what this might be? Even a family name would be helpful! Olividae? Marginellidae? Turridae?
