Is the genus name you refer to, Bittiolum, applicable only to B.
varium, or is it a generic name change for the Bittium genus; e.g., B.
attenuatum (Carp.), B. catalinese (Bartsch), B. eschrichtii
(Middendorf), etc. ?

Subject: Re: Bittium and Diastoma
The most important (and recent) information on this species is by
Houbrick
in Malacologia vol. 35 (1993).
The genus is Bittiolum, not Bittium or Diastoma (the latter quite
unrelated). The type of protoconch suggest planktotrophy (but it could
be
lecitotrophic).
