Use of a term like liberal "pink" pretty much negates the request for
keeping politics off the list.

The original poster might have expressed his concern in a less
emotional way, one which might have furthered a discussion rather than
bickering.

Conch-L is not the place to discuss politics, except when and where
politics has some bearing on conchology and malacology.  I don't see
why this shouldn't be a valid topic provided the participants use
courtesy. The topic ought not be verboten. This is, after all, a
science list.

Science is debate. And good science is never about censorship. But no
area of discussion that should be allowed to become a full-blown
piddling match, not a debate the validity of current administration's
policy nor an argument over the superiority of Manhattan versus New
England clam chowder.

The managers are kind enough to allow those of us who are hobbyists to
participate. We should appreciate that gift and not make managing the
list a headache by squabbling in the sandbox.

Internet communications are letters written on celluloid. They can
burst into flames if not treated respectfully.
