Hi David,
It seems that at the end you headed for the SE of Spain. The problem with
the Mediterranean Sea is that there are virtually no tidal action! For
intertidal shelling is far better the Atlantic coast of Cádiz (my place!),
where lots of shells large and small can be obtained, not to mention micros!
With respect to the land snail, it could be Otala lactea, or even a form of
Iberus gualtierianus!
