according to Anseeuw & Goto 1996 "The living Pleurotomariidae" the
following distributions for the Indian Ocean are given. No records for
the East Atlantic.

  - South Africa: off Durban (29°50'S, 31°19'E, 369 m)
  - South Africa: off Durban (29°48'S, 31°23'E)
  - South Africa: 11 miles off Durban, by trawl, 300m
  - South Africa: 10-12 miles off coast of Zululand, 300-338m
  - Madagascar: off north-west coast (12°06'S, 49°26'E, 300m)
  - Andaman Sea: NW Nicobar Island, 165-170m
  - Andaman Sea: between Andaman Island and Burmese coast,
      (13°05'N, 13°30'E [should probably be 93°30'E], 145-150m)

Petrotrochus caledonicus Bouchet & Métivier, 1982
  - NW Australia: trawled off Seringapatam Reef
  [in addition to records from the Pacific Ocean and South China Sea]

Petrotrochus westralis (=Pleurotomaria westralis Whitehead, 1987)
  - Australia: north of Port Hedland, North West Shelf, 376m
  - Australia: between Port Hedland and the Ashmore Reefs
  - Australia: near Rowley Shoals, NW Australia, trawled at 450m
  - Australia: near Scott Reef, NW Australia, trawled at 500m
  - Indonesia: off Timor, Sea of Timor, trawled at 255m
