Tom,
I disagree with Hubricht (1985).  I have used this method on slugs of most
lineages and found it to be the desired technique just as it is with
shelled snails.  Perhaps he did not use strong enough ethanol.  I recommend
85%, pour off the next day, replace with 85% for another 24hr period due to
dilution by body fluids.  In the field I usually keep them in the higher
concentration and transfer them to 70% only when they find their permanent
home at the museum.
