Myrtle Beach itself may have interesting fossils or modern shells if
they have just renourished the beach, but little chance of naturally
occurring material.

Huntington Beach State Park, a bit south of Myrtle Beach, would be a
relatively natural environment, as is much of the coast further south.
Some of the areas just northeast into North Carolina are also less
disturbed than Myrtle Beach itself.

Just about any deep hole, such as the Intracoastal Waterway, borrow
pits, new marinas, etc. will yield fossil shells, but the distribution
is patchy and it's hard to predict whether you'll get Cretaceous,
Pliocene, or Pleistocene. I even found an Eocene oyster at the
erosional contact between Cretaceous and Pliocene in this region once.

Several rare species occur in nearby freshwater habitats, so it's best
not to go for them unless you can identify and avoid protected
species.
