Hello Johan,
I don't know of a Florida/Caribbean species of Engina that closely resembles
the Australian Engina armillata.  However, E. armillata does superficially
resemble the common Florida species Cantharus tinctus   Are you sure you have
Engina specimens, and not small C. tinctus?
