I think they're closer to mitrifoms (Mitridae and Costellariidae).
But that is just a personal opinion based on size and little else.

Bouchet & Rocroi (2005) place the family between Volutidae and
Olividae, whereas Mitridae and Costellariidae are respectively 6 and
9 families previous.

Bouchet & Rocroi is pretty much the best classification there is
today, thus Volutomitridae are (and have been since 1854) a separate family.
