Spell checkers are only as good as good as what we program into them.
Would your spell checker accept molluscs or mollusks?

As far as landshells or land shells how about these three books:

Abbott - Compendium of Landshells.
A. Gonzales Guillen - Cuba The Landshells Paradise
Parkinson, et al - Tropical landshells of the world.
