I'm very sorry to hear about Bill Heard.  I took a malacology class from 
him in the early 70s and enjoyed it immensely.  His teaching style was 
relaxed, very informative, and he threw in a little humor now and then.  
Of all my instructors he's one of the few I remember with great 
respect.  The world is a sadder place without him in it.
