You're absolutely right, Brian, and I grovel in mortification. Especially
as I got most of my series of this species from you, all those moons ago....
Conus natalis has a 'tented' pattern of sorts, and this intergrades with
gilchristi by becoming isolated patches in a field of blue-white before
disappearing altogether. Tinianus is also very variable in colour, but is
definitely separate from natalis. The other confusing faunal element from
the same area is mozambicus, which can resemble tinianus in its smaller
stages.
