Dear conchlers
 
I am using dbaseIV 1,1 on dos. It's an quite old program but very
very useful and I like it very much. I just have listed about 2400
species and subspecies in about 23 000 datas.
I use the following fields: (here with different examples)
 
Familia: Helicidae
Genus: Chilostoma
Species (together with subspecies as I can fill in for example:
                cingulatum cingulatum
                cingulatum cingulinum
                cingulatum baldense
                and so on
Autor:  (Rossmaessler, 1839)
Staat:
            I
            E              (Staat as I am Austrian natural in German)
Provinz: Nordtirol
               Alto Adige
               Brescia
               and so on
Exemplare: 5
Fundort: Kundler Klamm, S Kundl  (Fundort means Locality)
               Hall, 10 km E Innsbruck,
Höhe / Tiefe:  650 m                         (Höhe: Height
                                                             Tiefe: Depth) for the                                                                                  Mediterranean or freshwater
                                                             species)
Habitat: on calcareous rocks with vegetation, in fissures
               and so on
Tag (day): 03

Jahr (year): 1998

You can make many indices to order the shells or entrances after
different points. I like this program really.
