Dear people,
I have the unhappy task of reporting the loss of a true naturalist,
scientist, physician, husband, and father. Alfredo Romeu died suddenly
this morning. He was seventy and had recently retired from the practice of
psychiatry. Many of us will recall his marvellous exhibits of land snails,
with which he was first smitten while garrisoned in Battista's army in
Oriente Province in his native Cuba. Our hearts go out to his wife,
Esther, his children and grandchildren.
