Betty Jean:

We all realize that you couldn't possibly be mean spirited. Although
many people on CONCH-L make statements they can't mean, and questions
that they know well the answer to, errors are easily come by. It is
very easy to check "To Mail" or whatever, and send a message but they
don't mean to be nasty or stupid, or at least don't realize that it may
be interpreted as being sucn. Or so we should interpretet it. Most of
us know better, and the majority of Conch-L are close, though unknow
firends.

Having just come back from a Christmas Party with old fiends in the
tightest intepretation of those words, Have a Merry Christmas and a
Happy New Century.

A friend delivered to me today a Miter I wanted to photograph the animal
of. I had photos of Neocancilla papilio langfordiana but they didn't
show enough of the animal to be sure of its characteristics to compare
it with N. papilio. It was a great day to have the specimens when I
needed them. I think it turns out that while most Mitridae species are
quite consistent, N. papilio tents to be more variable than any species
I have seen. I am interested in any other observations of animal
characteristica in Mitridae. We are working on a CD on the animals of
Mitridae.
