In the books available to me, the names Mactra corallina (Linnaeus, 1758)
and M. stultorum (Linnaeus, 1758) are both used for the European common surf
clam, and Nordsieck treats the Atlantic forms as a separate species (M.
cinerea Montagu, 1808). Has anyone solved the puzzle?

Greetings from Germany
Michael
